SigEp Balanced Man Scholarships

To qualify for the Balanced Man Scholarship, incoming students should submit an online application and enroll full-time at any of these institutions for the fall 2025 term (no essay required). Final deadlines vary by school, but the early application deadline for most scholarships is June 1, 2025. Applicants have no obligation to affiliate with or join SigEp to be eligible. This resource is intended to assist with college affordability while introducing students to campus life opportunities. Gina Guthrie Scholarship Fund - $2,500 - application deadline May 19

The Gina Guthrie Scholarship Fund was established to honor and remember Gina Guthrie by providing financial aid to help students achieve their dreams. Gina left us in 2019, but her memory lives on in the scholarship that bears her name.

If you are a graduating senior at any Cabarrus County high school and attending a university in the fall, you are eligible for this award. Our scholarship grant will be $2,500 to help defer college costs as our recipient heads into their freshman year.

Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation Scholarship

The Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation provides scholarships through the generosity of many individuals, organizations, and businesses within our region. A scholarship review team determines the recipient for those scholarships awarded by the College. 

The scholarship program consists of two kinds of awards: merit-based scholarships and need-based scholarships. Scholarships are also awarded on a competitive basis applying the following criteria: academic excellence, achievement, leadership qualities, need or other criteria stipulated by contributors.

RCCC Foundation Scholarships

Dr. Mable Parker McLean Scholarship - $1,000

The Pearls and Ivy Foundation of Cabarrus County provides scholarships to foster its commitment to cultivating and encouraging high scholastic standards and strong community engagement among high school students in all Kannapolis City and Cabarrus County Schools. In 2025, The Pearls and Ivy Foundation will award 6, $1,000 one-time scholarships to qualified high school students. At least one of the scholarships will be awarded to a student attending HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). Eligible candidates must attend a Kannapolis City or Cabarrus County High School, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate leadership capabilities through community service and/or extracurricular activities, and attend a four-year college or university beginning Fall 2025.

Dr. Mable Parker McLean Scholarship

Salvation Army Scholarship - $500 to $1,000

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has established a scholarship to recognize at least three graduating seniors or students completing a GED within this fiscal school year from Kannapolis City, Cabarrus or Stanly County public schools. These scholarships will be granted to students who will be attending an Accredited College, Community College or Technical School as full-time students upon their graduation. The recipients will receive a scholarship ranging from $500 to $1,000 to be paid to their school of choice. Preference will be given to those planning to attend in-state, public institutions. Winthrop University TIPS Scholars application now available!

The Winthrop University TIPS Scholars Program (Transdisciplinary Approach to Identity, Persistence, and Success in STEM) is now accepting applications for the upcoming academic year for students who are interested in pursuing a STEM degree.

The TIPS Scholars Program is designed to support high-achieving, low-income students with demonstrated financial need, providing scholarships of up to $15,000 per year (up to $60,000 over four years). This program offers not only financial support but also valuable academic and career development resources. The program is new for the 2025 cohort! Priority consideration given to applications submitted by February 15, 2025.

LAWA Scholarships - Deadline March 16, 2025

 

Almost 30 years ago, a small group of women from Spanish-speaking countries  formed an organization in Charlotte to help young Latinos gain critical access to higher education and careers. LAWA continues to provide scholarships through a competitive process based on academic achievement, financial need and community service. All legal statuses are welcome to apply. Interested in a career as an Actuary? Identify as Latino? Scholarships of up to $7,500 available!

The Organization of Latino Actuaries offers scholarships of up to $7,500 to students who identify as Latino, plan to attend a US-based college or university, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and are interested in a career in the Actuarial profession. Union Power Scholarship - $1,000

Union Power is proud to invest in and support our communities by building future leaders and creating opportunities for students. 

To apply for the Union Power College Scholarship, the applicant must:

  1. Be a child of a Union Power Cooperative member or live in a home served by Union Power Cooperative. 
  2. Be a high school senior in the current graduating class.
  3. Attend a North Carolina-accredited college or university. 
  4. Meet the criteria of 40% need, 30% academic achievement, and 30% extracurricular activities in school, civic, and community functions.

National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Scholarship

The purpose of the NAFEPA scholarship program is to promote student access to a variety of post-secondary educational opportunities and mitigate factors that might inhibit students from pursuing their career and life goals. There are four scholarships, each worth a total of $5000, distributed over two consecutive years ($2500 each year). Two scholarships are awarded to candidates pursuing a degree, license, or certification in the field of education. The remaining two scholarships are awarded to candidates in any field of study.
