Acquanetta Edmond, a South Carolina native, earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. In 1996, she moved to North Carolina to embark on her educational career. Over her tenure with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, she taught 4th and 6th grades. After four years in the classroom, she transitioned to become Principal Fellow, and obtained a Master’s in School Administration and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2002.
During her time in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, she had the pleasure to serve in various capacities from classroom teacher to literacy facilitator, executive director and learning community superintendent. Her work left a lasting mark on students and principals throughout the district. In these roles, she facilitated leadership meetings, mentored principals, and championed academic excellence across diverse schools and content areas.
Acquanetta’s 28 years of experience in education brings a wealth of knowledge to Cabarrus County Schools. She is a visionary and impactful instructional leader who strives to lead schools to academic excellence. Children are the top in everything that she does, and throughout her career she has been impactful by leading schools and learning communities to achieve growth and changing the landscape for students and educators. This has been accomplished through relationships, various educational support, principal coaching, and instructional initiatives.
Acquanetta places a high value on family and has been married to her college sweetheart for over 25 years. She is a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Mrs. Edmond consistently ensures that she serves as a role model beyond the schoolhouse. Acquanetta has traveled to multiple continents and she loves history, fashion and interior design.
Mrs. Edmond is a lifelong educator dedicated to excellence, showcasing leadership practices honed through professional development and coaching from organizations such as Queens University, The Leadership Forum, Cultural Proficiency, and Relay; just to name a few. She believes that students can accomplish anything that they put their minds to, and she conveys this message to students every single day.
